As far as I am concerned Maya Rudolph has been one of the best SNL cast members of all time. She is right up there with the greats like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell. Needless to say I was thrilled when I saw she was hosting this week. Luckily she did not disappoint. She is so spot on with her impressions it is amazing! My favorite sketch of the entire night was her as Beyonce and Jay Pharoah as Jay-Z. They are introducing their daughter, Blue Ivy, to a number of their celebrity friends such as Prince, Taylor Swift, Brad & Angelina and Nicki Minaj. Not only did Maya return to the SNL stage for this episode, but there was a surprise appearance by none other than Amy Poehler. Amy is another of those fantastic comedic women that once graced the SNL stage and has since starred in her own popular show, Parks and Recreation. She co-starred with Rudolph in their sketch, Bronx Beat. On top of having Poehler in this sketch, out walks Justin Timberlake to everyones surprise. Poehler returned to the stage with Seth Myers for a hilarious Really?!? With Seth & Amy sketch.
Clearly everyone wanted to be on this episode with Maya.
Maya did a fabulous job hosting this week. The best episodes are when they bring back old castmembers as hosts. Luckily the castmembers I miss the most have all been popular enough to have their own sitcoms on the air, so they're not too far away.
