The Return of the Fairest One of All

Lately Snow White seems to be getting alot of attention. She is one of the stars of the hit ABC show, Once Upon A Time, portrayed by Ginnifer Goodwin.  Along with her TV debut, Disney’s first princess will be the subject of 2 movies coming out this year. The first starring Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Hunstman, and coming out in March, Mirror Mirror starring Lily Collins. After her movie debuted over 70 years ago it looks like she is making quite a comeback.
Out of the 3 women playing Snow White, Ginnifer Goodwin looks the most like this classic princess. Her skin is as white as snow and has hair black as ebony. I love that as Snow White she is shown as an independent, strong willed woman. Ginnifer's version of Snow White knows how to use a sword and is able to survive on her own in the wilderness. Unlike many other classic princesses, she does not sit around in her castle all day singing about her daily activities. She plays a great role model to girls showing that not all princesses have to wait for their knight in shining armor to come and save them.

Not only is Snow White going to be gracing your screens in the future, Disney World is adding a new attraction to Fantasyland based around the fairest one of all. While this does mean they are taking out the classic Snow White’s Scary Adventures, it is good to know they are including her in the wide expansion overtaking the Magic Kingdom. The new ride, scheduled to come out in 2013, will be based around The Seven Dwarves mines in a roller coaster adventure. At the recent D23 conference they unveiled a video of what the ride will look like when completed.

Snow White may not be Disney’s most popular princess, but she was the first and set the bar for all the others that followed. While other princesses may have more elaborate dresses and shoes, no one holds a candle to Snow White’s optimism and gentle loving nature for all people and creatures. It may be hard to relate to being chased into the woods threatening to be killed by your step-mother, but it is easy to see how depending on a close group of friends and believing in your dreams could eventually lead you to your own fairy tale ending. It's great to see that Snow White is making a comeback and that she is finally getting the spotlight she deserves.
